OMS-UK Prayer Initiative – November 1-10, 2012

Paul exhorted the believers in Philippi to:
“Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with  thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6

God engraved Philippians 4:6 on my heart ever since Pastor Lawrence Kennedy spoke  on it at our 2010 OMS/N I Conference.

We want ‘everything’ we do within OMS/UK to be soaked in prayer.

God really challenged me to set aside a 10 day season of prayer after reading the following quotation by Hudson Taylor: “Many Christians estimate difficulty in the light of their resources, and they attempt very little and they always fail. All giants have been weak men who did great things for God because they reckoned on His power and presence to be with them. Since the days of Pentecost, has the whole church ever put aside every other work and waited upon Him for ten days, that the Spirit’s power might be manifested? We give too much attention to method and machinery and resources and too little to the source of the power.”

Some of the reasons for prayer are: For revival in the UK – Psalm 85:6, for our nation and those in authority – 1 Timothy 2:1-4, for more workers for the harvest -Matthew 9:38, for open doors to share the gospel – 1 Corinthians 16:9, for open hearts and minds to receive the gospel – 2 Corinthians 4:3-4, for our missionaries and national workers – 1 Thessalonians 3:1-2, and the list goes on.

We urge you to join with us to pray for the work of OMS/UK in our role within OMS worldwide and its fourfold focus of evangelism, church planting, training leaders, and strategic partnerships with like-minded organisations and national churches.

Please use our 10 day prayer guide (available from the Manchester Office) during your daily devotions and if possible try to attend one of the prayer events in your area (see below).

We appreciate all our prayer partners who uphold this good work faithfully in prayer.
